Spend 15 minutes playing SINKER THINKER. This time you will find PONDER is on some of the tabs. Remember, he gives the total, so you need to calculate the missing bubble!

Watch the video for today's lesson: Imperial Units

Complete as much of today's worksheet (below) as you can.

(Answers are at the bottom of this page.)

English

Here is today's spelling challenge:

Make a list of as many words as you can think of that contain at least one S, but no other consonants. Your words can have as many different vowels as you like! Here's an example: SUES

Longer words will get more points:

  2 letter words     1 pt

  3 letter words     2 pts

  4 letter words     3 pts

  5 letter words     5 pts

 >5 letters             10 pts

YOU MAY USE A DICTIONARY, but please do not just Google your answer!

How expert are you?

10 pts - a fair effort

20 pts - good going

30 pts - you're a spelling star

40 pts - you can teach the class from now on!

Imagine you have just come back from an expensive holiday that you were really looking forward to. Unfortunately, the holiday was a disaster and you are fuming!

Write a letter or email to the hotel or travel company complaining and demanding a refund.

Think about what might have gone wrong - lost luggage, poor quality room, illness, building work at hotel, rude staff etc.

Ensure you use plenty of strong persuasive language so that they are convinced by your case for a refund of your money.

Many families this year are deciding to holiday in the UK, because they don't want to travel by plane. I would like you to research good places for holidays in Britain. Do you want sea and sand? Do you want mountains and forests? Do you want an activity holiday? Do you want to be pampered in a luxury hotel?

Find a really good place to go as a family and create a page of photographs and descriptive words to persuade everyone it's a good idea. You never know - maybe they'll agree to book it!
