EVACUATION TRIP

Thursday 9th September

Year 5 will be embarking on a trip in the very first week of term!

Please ensure that you have given your consent for this trip and made a voluntary contribution (if you are able to) via ParentPay.

Children should come to school at the normal time, but will need a packed lunch (1940s style lunch if possible please). We hope that as many children as possible will manage to wear authentic evacuee clothing on the day - Mr Searle will be dressed as an army officer on the way home on leave!

The class will learn a great deal about what it meant to be evacuated. The day will include a simulated air raid (please be advised this is dark and loud), a journey by steam train, a 1940s school-room experience, a chance to listen to the recollections of real evacuees and training on stirrup pumps to help the war effort amongst other things.

We will return to school before the end of the school day, so please pick up at the normal time.
