Autumn Term 1 2021
This term we are busy getting to know each other along with all these other skills:
A very busy term ahead!
We are fortunate to be able to borrow Museum Loan Boxes from The Wilson Museum in Cheltenham. These are replica items from The Great Fire of London.
How did the Great Fire of London start? was our first enquiry lesson looking at 8 different clues to make a conclusion. We decided the fire most likely started from a spark from the oven in a baker's house - Thomas Farriner, who lived on Pudding Lane on Sunday 2nd September 1666 at around 1 am.
As part of our D+T Cookery project, we wanted to taste different breads so we could try lots of flavours.
We tried: white bread, wholemeal, seeded, cranberry, olive and iced buns. We had a discussion to think about healthy options and we will design our own breads next before making our creations next week.
Year 2 are having 6 weeks of Cricket Sessions with All Stars Cricket and today we practised catching the ball when fielding and also having a go at batting. It was great fun!
In history we have looked at lots of timelines to help us understand when 1666 was! We explored the school timeline in the corridor and found out it happened in Tudor times when King Charles II was on the throne.
We have loved making bread this week and we are writing instructions in English showing the steps needed to make our loaves.
