Summer Term

Welcome back to summer term 1!

We hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and have been enjoying the glorious weather.

We are looking forward to another brilliant term with your children and have had a lovely first week back. So far the children have been enjoying their new art project for this term and have been busy experimenting with watercolours and seaside art.

This term’s whole school value is ‘Compassion’, which we will learn more about in our class services, as well as in the classroom. The children are all very excited to be sharing some of their learning with you in our class celebration service on the 8th of May.

We have so much to look forward to over the next two summer terms.

In art this term we have been looking at a variety of seascapes. The children worked in pairs to create a collage of Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Fishing Boats on the beach’.

In history this term we have been learning about how schools have changed over time. We were lucky to have Mrs Slee come into class and talk about what her primary school experience was like compared to now.

Our Year 1class celebration service. The children did an amazing job at sharing what they have enjoyed learning this year and singing about our current value compassion.

On Thursday afternoon we went on a nature hunt finding signs of summer.

This term we have been writing riddles in literacy. This week we wrote our own riddles about under the sea creatures. The children then read their riddle to the rest of the class for them to solve.

To begin our riddles unit in literacy Mrs Smart set us a challenge. We had to work in pairs and find the missing clues to complete the different riddles.
