We will look at beaches and take a trip to Clevedon beach to help us understand the physical and human features found at the seaside.
Our science work will look at seasons and how they change over the year. We will explore the weather and how plants grow. We shall be identifying what makes the day longer or shorter and where the sunsets and rises.
In RE we are learning about Judaism. We have been investigating the Jewish festivals of Passover and Sukkot. We tried Matzah crackers. made a sedar plate, lit candles and shared what we are thankful for like Jewish people do at Passover.
Sukkot is the Jewish harvest festival. Sukkot means ‘hut’ and the Torah story notes how the Jewish people made shelters or ‘sukkahs’ out of palm leaves and other natural resources found in the wilderness when they were freed from slavery . We had so much fun making our own ‘sukkah’ out of palm leaves and other materials including wooden logs and cardboard boxes. We also made our own version of the ‘four kinds’ which are four plants; palm, willow, myrtle and lemon. They symbolise the natural things found on the ground that helped the Jewish people in the wilderness and these plants are also used to bless the ‘sukkah’.
