This week, we will use City of Silence for our writing. In this workbook, we shall be getting our creative juices flowing
starting with the game The City of Silence and then we’ll use the ideas that come out of it to do a variety of activities: writing short poems, trying some descriptive writing, giving feedback to writers, being a teacher, doing some artwork and finally publishing or performing our work. I hope you enjoy it!
Today, go to pages 4 - 7 and complete these activities - work hard to create some great lists that will make your writing wonderful!
Starting Game
Activity 1: Make a list of places
Activity 2: Make a list of abstract nouns
Keep this work handy for tomorrow!

Other activity - Blue Peter Badge
This week we are going to be applying for a Blue Peter Badge - I wonder how many of us will get one! If you already have a blue one, why not try applying for a different one! We will spend the next few afternoons preparing this as your Creative Task so you don't need to finish it all today.
Spend Monday afternoon exploring the Blue Peter website.
Spend a short amount of time planning and producing a first draft of your letter/application to Blue Peter.
Here is the link for more details - Applying for a Blue Peter Badge
Visit the website and spend today exploring the Blue Peter website. If you have never watched the show, maybe you could watch it today too. This is a British TV show your parents will remember from their childhood!
Please plan and produce a creative contribution to earn your badge. This could be a poem, a story, some artwork, a model, a recipe, a suggestion for the show, or an interesting letter telling us about something you have done linked to your hobbies and interests.
Apply for a Blue Badge
The Blue badge is the most iconic badge in the UK! We can’t be entirely sure how many have been awarded since launching in 1963, but we reckon the number is in the millions. Everyone who appears on the show gets a badge, but here’s a step by step guide for how you can get your hands on one!
To apply for a Blue badge you must:
•Be between 6 – 15 years old
•Please send us a creative contribution to earn your badge. This could be a poem, a story, some artwork, a model, a recipe, a suggestion for the show, or an interesting letter telling us about something you have done linked to your hobbies and interests
•Also include: your full name, your date of birth, your home postal address and postcode
•Post it to Blue Peter with the correct stamp on it (you'll need a 'large letter' stamp if sending an A4, or to pay for parcel postage if bigger than a letter)
Send your application letter and any other materials to the following address:
