Year 5 at Cadbury World
Year 5 had a fantastic introduction to their new history topic at Cadbury World on Wednesday. The children took part in a workshop where they learnt about the ancient Maya civilisation. They got to look at a replica of an ancient codices which showed how the Maya wrote using symbols and pictures before learning about how they cultivated cacao trees in order to harvest the pods and beans, both to make a cocoa drink and to use as currency.
They then got to experience the jungle exhibit to see how the Maya lived before exploring the history and development of Cadbury’s chocolate.
They did of course get plenty of chocolate to enjoy as well!
