Year 2 WWT Slimbridge Visit

Year 2 enjoyed a visit to WWT Slimbridge, opened up by Sir Peter Scott, son of Captain Scott of the Antarctic who was so inspired by Edward Wilson, he asked his wife Kathleen to ensure his son Peter grew up loving nature and birds and look what happened! We saw the house he lived in on arrival.

The children loved pond-dipping and we caught so many baby three-spined stickleback fish, pond snails, water boatmen, dragonfly nymphs, whirligig beetles to name a few! After the otter talk, we walked through the busy paths dodging geese and their goslings before enjoying the playpark and wellybootland where the children got well and truly soaked! Many thanks to the PTA for the donation for ice-creams. Thank you to the parent helpers once again too.

We really recommend a visit soon! There is a beautiful new pond section with beautiful willow moon doors created by Chris who came to Christ Church and made the willow dome for our children.
