Year 2 Mosque and Cathedral Trip

We are so proud of our Year 2 pupils on this trip. The coach driver, the imam at Masjid-e-Noor mosque and the volunteers at Gloucester Cathedral commented how amazing their behaviour was and just how respectful they were at both sacred places.

The children experienced the different parts of a mosque and it really brought their learning to life getting to see the prayer hall, prayer times, listening to a call to prayer and watching someone use the washroom for wudu. We shared our learning about what it’s like to be a Muslim in their community in the UK and beyond. We learned about the generosity and the projects run by the mosque such as feeding the hungry, running a friendship café, giving donations for refugees or community projects – they raised £10,000 in just one week for a new hospital scanner!

At the cathedral, we learned about some of its history and looked around special places inside the building. It was amazing to see some of the 15 different chapels inside it and the children enjoyed making a special candle and stained glass window. Thank you again to the parent helpers who gave up their time to accompany us.
