This week, Year 2 used their bread recipe and design to create their own unique loaves of bread. We tasted different types of bread last week which helped us decide what we could include in our own designs: poppy seeds / sesame seeds / mixed seeds / cranberries / raisins / olives / sunflower seeds to name a few!
Special thanks to Mrs Mwakyegula and Ms Hakimi who worked with the children to help measure the correct ingredients and make sure there was a loaf of bread to cook!
Here is the recipe you can try at home!
Year 2’s Bread Recipe

Method:
- First, preheat the oven to 220 degrees.
- Then sieve the flour, salt and yeast in a bowl.
- After, add the water and mix the ingredients together to form a dough. Add a little more water if it is stiff.
- Next, tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead the dough until it is smooth.
- Then, shape the dough and add your toppings.
- After that, leave your dough for one hour so it can prove.
- Bake your loaf in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Finally, cool your bread then slice it to enjoy!
