This term, I have planned lots of exciting learning for our enquiry project “Why don’t penguins need to fly?” In this Geography-led theme, we will look at atlases and maps to locate the polar regions then focusing on Antarctica. Children will learn about the climate, find out about polar animals to create e-books and will build up to making a quiz on Antarctica as a final project. By the end of Year 2, pupils need to know the 7 continents and 5 oceans so we will recap this from Year 1 learning. This is something you could practise at home. Our science work will link nicely to this as we look at “living things and their habitats” exploring adaptation. Knowledge organisers for Science and Geography are attached to use at home for retrieval practice. This term, PE lessons will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays as we have a Cricket coach booked but we expect to have PE Kits in school each day anyway.
