  • 5th Place in County Hockey Finals!

Tue 27 Mar 2018 Miss Hillier

Christ Church Hockey Team showed amazing talent and team spirit today earning themselves 5th place in the County Hockey Finals!

Winning 3 out of 4 of their group stage matches, the team made it to the play offs for 5th to 8th position, narrowly missing out on playing for the top spots. All 4 children demonstrated fantastic attacking and defending skills along with great tactical skills and knowledge of the game. They were a credit to the school and should be extremely proud of their achievement!

  • Football Festival

Sat 24 Mar 2018 Mr Cook
Well done to all of our Year 5 boys who represented the school so superbly in the Football Festival at St. Edward's.  The tournament got off to a wonderful start with a 5 - 0 win over Andoversford.  After that, followed a fine all-round team display in a 7 - 0 win over Holy Trinity and then a hard-fought 1 - 0 victory over Grangefield.  The next game saw a narrow 1 - 2 defeat to St. Edward's after taking a 1-goal lead into the second half and the tournament ended with an excellent performance in a 3 - 0 victory against Glenfall.  From defence to attack the boys worked really hard and played some lovely passing football.  It was great to see the team perform so well - Congratulations all!

  • Tag Rugby Festival

Wed 21 Mar 2018 Miss Hillier
A slightly warmer day saw more sporting success for Christ Church today. 10 Year 5/6 children took part in the Tag Rugby Festival at Newlands Park, competing in 8 tiring matches. This was the first time that our team had played competitively together and as the day went on both their attack and defence got stronger and stronger. The effort and determination of our children could not be faulted and we look forward to building on this success for the future. The end of the festival saw the children rewarded with a bronze medal for the School Games value of 'Fairplay'. A special mention must go to Rhys for his incredible speed and passion for the game, scoring 11 tries in total and making many more fantastic runs with the ball.
  • Christ Church Hockey Glory in Freezing Conditions!

Mon 19 Mar 2018 Miss Hillier

The weather may have been cold but the mood was certainly warm and joyful as Christ Church Hockey Team took part in the School Sports Network Quick Sticks Hockey Tournament tonight. Edward, Reggie, Edie and Naiya got off to a fantastic start with a 4:0 win over St. Marks. With confidence then running high, another convincing win followed against Swindon Village. The third game against Woodmancote made it 3 wins out of 3 with Christ Church still keeping a clean sheet. The final game against Tirlbrook was the most challenging game faced by our team but some skilful defending and confident attacking play saw the evening end with 4 wins out of 4, 15 goals scored and only 1 conceded.

A great team effort and fantastic hockey skills all round. Well done Christ Church!
