Practise this week's spellings.

Do you know why some animal and plant species are described as 'endangered'? Look this up or discuss it with an adult if you are unsure. Can you name any endangered species? Do some research about one particular species which is endangered (this may be an animal or a plant) - find out where it still survives in the wild, the size of the current population and the reasons why it is threatened (this may be habitat destruction or pollution or hunting etc). Also, try to find out what is being done to save it and how people can help.

Design and create a poster to inform the World about this endangered species and persuade everyone that something can be done to stop it from becoming extinct.

The example document below may give you some ideas for your poster.

OTHER

This activity gives you a chance to be really creative.

I would like you to make a slideshow of pictures of endangered species, then either choose a piece of music or create your own music to accompany the photo-slideshow. The musical accompaniment should set the right feeling - keep it serious as this is a serious issue - maybe a little sombre as it is sad that species are becoming extinct - dramatic music will get people's attention.

Have fun creating.

My example is below. I used Windows Movie Maker, which is very easy to use. You only get the annoying banner across the middle when you try to export it, so it won't be a problem for you. Alternatively, you could use IMovie or Adobe Premiere.
