Christ Church Primary School

Latest Football News

On Thursday 12th October, the school football team played their second game of the season. It was against St John's Primary School and took place at Alstone Croft.

After the heavy defeat in their first game, the players were determined to concentrate from the start and not give away any early goals. The Christ Church defence proved much stronger in this game and the game flowed from one end of the pitch to the other in an exciting frenzy of goal-mouth chances. St John's were awarded a penalty late in the first half, which was spectacularly saved by goalie, Reuben Blake. This meant the match was all square 0-0 at half time.

With a couple of substitutions at half time, Christ Church came out even stronger at the start of the second half and Luca Cavanagh came close to scoring on a number of occasions and Laurie Farrar made some exciting runs down the wing. Nevertheless the ball would not go in the net and at full time the score remained 0-0.

This was a very big improvement on the performance in the first match, so that bodes well for our next couple of games after half term.

Player of the match : Reuben Blake.
